Location: Top Secret
The apron of the airfield had previously been painted by another contractor and the client was unhappy due to the poor quality of the workmanship. Some lines were not straight and most of them had faded after only two months operational use.
To develop a solution that provides a hard wearing marking system that provides excellent long term wear characteristics whilst maintaining high visibility.
Adding to our challenge was that the airfield was to remain live and operational, that work windows available to us were short and that all work had to be completed during adverse weather conditions.
Working closely with our material suppliers, we developed a bespoke system that included hydroblasting to clear all residue of previous inferior marking and a three part prime/airless spray paint/seal system to provide optimum longevity whilst maintaining high visibility even in wet conditions at night.
This provided our customer the following benefits:
- Long effective life, minimising future operational disruption for the airfield
- Maintaining high visibility even in wet conditions at night
- Matt finish to reduce glare under landing lights
- Saving the customer money over the lifetime of the markings
